What is an MRI and how do I prepare for it?

openMRILincoln Center Radiology (a service of SNSI) has just added one the most advanced diagnostic tools for helping physicians reach confident diagnoses and helping patients feel more comfortable during MR scans.

The new Optima MR450w system from GE Healthcare has an opening so that virtually all patients, especially larger patients, or patients who do not like the feeling of being closed in, feel more at ease during a scan.

Unlike many previous wide-bore systems, this system from GE has advanced capabilities and delivers uncompromised image quality. This advanced technology helps make the scanning experience more user-friendly for patients and doctors as well.

How do I get my test results?

In most cases, your Physician’s office or nurse will call you with the results of your test. Please allow 5-7 business days for us to receive the test results from the facility they were done and for the physician to review the results.  If you have additional questions or other issues that you need to discuss with the Nurse, you may call the office at any time.

How do I make an appointment?

In order to schedule an appointment at our office, you must have a referral from another doctor or the hospital emergency department.  Although we recognize that this may be of some inconvenience to you as a patient, our goal is to avoid wasting your time and money.

Some patients who have a neurological problem are not surgical candidates, so a visit to a neurologist or other specialist first may save you time and money in the long run.  Referring physicians are also able to order radiological tests such as MRIs that are often necessary to see a neurosurgeon. Having these done first will expedite your care and appointment time should you need to see a neurosurgeon. Once they have determined you need neurosurgical treatment, have their office call us to schedule your appointment and send us all your records.

Once the referral is received by our office, we will call you to schedule an appointment with either the doctor or his NP as quickly as possible.

Do you have spine or neck pain, but do not have a primary or family physician? You may visit our Walk-In Spine Center without a referral or appointment where our trained professional staff will see you and order any tests needed. Once evaluated, our physician in the Walk-In Spine Center can recommend any further treatment you may need from our other staff physicians. Call 601.579.4445 with any further questions.
